At G-werks we take our cylinder head work very seriously. One of the most cost effective modifications for your engine concerning overall drive-ability and top end performance is having the cylinder head ported & polished. This is because when the factory casts and machines your cylinder head it does so with what is considered to be an acceptable tolerance for mass production. This is why identical production cars can perform totally different from each other, purely down to this mass production tolerance. It’s this mass production tolerance that can vary as much as 10-15% in flow between castings and sometimes even within the same casting like the VR’s, that we strife to not only eliminate but then further improve upon with our headwork. It’s only after countless hours of R&D in the workshop and field that we are able to offer you the customer some of the most flow efficient upgrades available. Be it 8,12,16,20v or even 24v take a look at the work we offer and the options available to you to see how we can get the most out of your engine.
8 valve and G60
8 valve and G60 cylinder heads, like other counterflow 8v VW/Audi heads, suffer from 2 issues. First, the exhaust port is at a poor angle to the port and the port too small, likewise the intake valve is too big for the port. Subsequently after a long time in R&D concerning these heads we’ve worked out how to make them the most efficient possible for peak hp and tq gains across the rev range in respect to the chosen cam configuration. We are able to offer four stages of cylinder head for the 8v and G60 engines
Standard – £250.00 Our most basic option giving your old head a fresh leash of life to a higher standard than the day it left the factory; pressure tested, new guides and seals, seats recut, valves reconditioned, wetblasted, chemical cleaned and skimmed.
Street/Strip – £495.00 The first of our performance packages, a straight bolt on option, good for standard and mild performance cams. Improved throttle response and midrange, smoother power delivery with improved top end power gains.
Weekend Warrior – £650 A good performance head ideally suited for med to high lift/duration cams. Good midrange and top end power gains subject to a remap.
Race Head and Intake Package (1.8 & 2.0ltr counterflow only)- £895.00 Taking our 8v head to the max with larger port dimensions requiring the modification of the intake manifold (or throttlebodies/carbs) to ensure there is no restriction of flow from the standard runner sizes thus capable of flowing equivalent to a standard KR head. High lift/duration cams are required along with a remap to make the most of this animal.
Performance Heads – All consist of our standard recon with additional port work up.
All VAG 16v incl 2.0 FSI
Standard – £395.00 Our most basic option giving your old head a fresh leash of life to a higher standard than the day it left the factory; pressure tested, new guides and seals, seats recut, valves reconditioned, wetblasted, chemical cleaned and skimmed.

Street/Strip – £595.00 (not available for FSI) The first of our performance packages, a straight bolt on option, good for standard and mild performance cams. Improved throttle response and midrange torque, smoother power delivery with improved top end power gains.
Weekend Warrior – £750.00 Great step up from our fast road head ideally suited to mid to high performance cams with improved top end power delivery compared to its smaller cousin. A remap is a must when considering this head for optimum performance gains.
Race Head (KR/PL/9A/ABF Only)- £1250 incl oversized valves Taking the 16v head to the max with larger port dimensions supporting 0.5mm oversize valves on both the intake and exhaust our 16v Race Head is a force to be reckoned with over 30% flow gains on the intake and exhaust. The Race Head is ideally suited to high lift/long duration cams with throttle Bodies/Carbs. Remap and aftermarket induction is a necessity to maximise gains.
? ?All VAG 1.8TStandard – £475.00 Our most basic option giving your old head a fresh leash of life to a higher standard than the day it left the factory; pressure tested, new guides and seals, seats recut, valves reconditioned, wetblasted, chemical cleaned and skimmed.Street/Strip – £750.00 (aftermarket valves optional)
Small Port – Great entry level head, flow figures of the small port will match those of a standard large port on the intake and outflow the standard large port exhaust by 15%+ Giving the potential of large port power with the power delivery of the small port head; remap recommended.
Large Port – 15%+ average flow gains across the board makes this large port head a great step up from standard giving improved throttle response with mid to top end gains relative to a stock head; remap recommended.
Weekend Warrior – £950.00(aftermarket valves optional)
Small Port – Capable of supporting the GT30 range of turbo’s without the common issue of surge found when fitting larger turbo’s to these heads. When mapped correctly this head offers excellent spool up properties making it ideal for a 400hp+ street friendly weekend warrior project; performance cams & aftermarket intake and tubular exh manifold highly recommended, remap essential.
Large Port – Ideal head configuration for big power 1.8t application suited to GT30, GT32 and GT35 setups; performance cams recommended, tubular exhaust, performance intake manifold and remap essential.
Race Head (Large Port Only) – £2400.00 (incl aftermarket valves) A balls out no holds barred head for out and out drag race application. Buckets clearanced for high lift solid lifter cams, welded up EGR holes, xtra long flushed guides, increased runner cc for stroked motors (2.0ltr+), machining for oversized valves & surface deck cooling to aid even heat distribution across all 4 cylinders.
VR6 Head
Standard – £POA Our most basic option giving your old head a fresh leash of life to a higher standard than the day it left the factory; pressure tested, new guides and seals, seats recut, valves reconditioned, wetblasted, chemical cleaned and skimmed.
Street/Strip – £POA In standard form the VR6 head suffers from uneven flow between the cylinders due to the round ports flowing up to 12% more in places than the square ports. Our entry level head concentrates on resolving this imbalance by improving stock figures on the round ports by 10% and the square ports by 20%. Giving improved power delivery throughout the rev range; remap recommended.
Weekend Warrior – £POA A good performance head ideally suited for med to high lift/duration cams. Good midrange and top end power gains subject to a remap.

Hello! Can you tell me please if you know that its possible to fit a new beetle crossflow head (AQY) 2003 to my mk3 golf engine (AGG)?! This head swap is supposed to increase bhp with either webbers or aftermarket injectors?

  2. gwerks says:

It is possible, yes. The oil way in the head needs to be modified as it is a different shape but other than that it bolts straight on.

  3. Your web-site is certainly full of good info and also is actually quite pleasing to take a look at.

    Very well carried out:)

my engine details are; 2.0 8v ady 2e vw golf mk3 gti
and the head i have purchased is exactly as your 8v and g60 heads and was paired upto piper bp285hy cam

i would be very gratefull if with your knowledge of vw tuning you could inform me of any additional mods or parts i would need to fit these parts
