So this has been doing the rounds on the interwebz and it seems to have got a really mixed reaction. Now if you’re in your late 20s or early 30s, you will surely remember the original. Hell, I’d religiously be sat down in front of the fire, armed with a box of Jaffa Cakes ready to watch B.A. make a fully working tank using nothing but a few cans of Coke and a MIG welder, laugh at The Face Man chatting-up the ladies and wince as ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock wound everyone up! There’s so many cool bits that stick in my mind – Face’s C4 Corvette, that mega GMC G15 van and the legendary quotes (you know ‘em all, so I won’t bother reminding you). Anyway, here’s a trailer for the new movie which will hit cinemas mid-summer. You’ve got to take it with a pinch of salt, but despite this it has some serious actors like Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel and there’s the not so serious Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson (of UFC fame), who is a proper funny guy. Some say it’s sacrilege, we reckon it could be a real laugh. Check out the trailer.
We spotted this shot of a really angry looking Mitsubishi EVO in action at Tsukuba. Not sure where this picture is from, it may have been SpeedHunters, perhaps it was from the Bar section of Edition 38’s forums. Anyway, it’s been sat on the desktop of a computer at G-werks HQ and, after watching a lot of Best Motoring vids on YouTube, the photograph has inspired us to find out a little bit more about the famous Japanese race track.
So in a nutshell, the circuit was a established back in 1966, but didn’t actually get built until 1970. The idea being that the track would attract young people into motor racing. Now events are held at Tsukuba every week and the track has appeared in loads of video games like the Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport series, plus it’s a regular feature in Time Attack events and, as we’ve mentioned before, the Best Motoring battles.
Here’s some old footage of a very fast lap that legendary Honda tuners, TopFuel, managed to achieve in their 483BHP turbocharged FWD EK9 Civic.
Fixed gear track bikes were once the staple of New York cycle couriers, but recently they’ve taken the UK by storm. These funky versions from Create Bikes pack mega-value at just £199 and look the nuts. Check the Create website out here for full info and online ordering. We want to get our hands on one and give it the G-werks treatment. WATCH THIS SPACE!
We don’t know how familiar you all are with the Best Motoring series, but we’ve long been fans. GT Channel on YouTube has recently uploaded a load of scenes from the Best Motoring DVDs and this is one of our favourite’s. Just check out the crazy old man in the NSX-R. Make a cuppa tea and make yourself comfortable for 12 minutes of killer track action in $1,000,000+ of dreamworthy metal.
So, at the back end of last summer, we got a call at G-werks HQ from the boys at Fast Car Magazine. ‘We wanna do a girl shoot in your workshop, we’ll probably need Porsches and trainers’, they said. ‘Not a problem’, we replied. So the deal was sealed. We’d provide the trainers and the cars and they promised a hot tattooed girl wearing not-a-lot. It sounded like a fair trade and, to be fair, it was. Looking back, that was a good day at G-werks HQ. We didn’t get much work done, but it was a real boost for staff morale! Check out the photographs of the stunning Charlotte and her amazing ink. Enjoy! (Don’t forget to click on any of the images to enlarge them)
Special thanks to everyone at Fast Car for hooking us up with these pages. We’ve just been told Fast Car’s latest issue, which hits shelves on Wednesday the 13th of January, has a very unique cover and a full feature of a certain Players’ Mk3 which we helped put together last year. More news on that coming your way next week. In the meantime check out www.fastcar.co.uk. That’s all for now. Like you’re still reading these words, anyway. You’re looking at Charlotte, aren’t you? Fairplay.
