Flat back or whack?

I’ve had a thing for flat, or satin black, for a quite a while now. Okay, it’s not exactly innovative, but when executed properly, flat black cars snap necks left, right and centre. This Lamborghini caught my eye a few weeks ago and has been lurking on my desktop ever since. I just cannot stop looking at it!

Granted, it’s a Lambo, so it’s kinda got a jump on most rides already. But it does look extra tough with the flat black wrap. Apparently it’s also got a nasty yellow interior, which ruins the whole ‘Murdered’ effect. Some would argue that this satin black ‘fad’ is getting a little played out now. Maybe this is the case for people that are seriously into the tuning scene, but to the average person on the street, flat black is still a super-cool look. Personally, I still haven’t got this out of my system and I really like the idea of rolling in a Murdered Out ride this Summer. What do you think: Flat black or whack?

Mk5 R32 werk

Having been previously been in for work including Kw coilovers, Rs4 brakes, Schrick cams, Software updates etc. This booking was purely for cosmetic reasons. The wheels having taken a bit of a beating from the shocking potholes the winter weather seems to of thrown at us and some small damage to the O/S front arch deemed that some well deserved paintwork was required from our sister company “Paintwerks” After all the paint work had been completed all that was required was a refit and a good valet to await collection from the customer.

Check back soon for more big power upgrades.

MK5 Golf Rocking Maybach 57s

A few weeks ago we had a customer walk through the door wielding a set of maybach 57s at us screaming, “make them red! Make them red!” Who were we to argue! Our newly opened paintshop “Paintwerks” got straight on with the task in hand, whilst I got on the blower to H&R for some large adapters to help with the fitting of these bad boys. A week or so later Chris arrived back at G-werks for the fitting and I think you will agree ending up with something looking rather special.

The cars had already been treated to a set of our AP coilovers and on the cards in the future will be a very trick paint job and a special interior and perhaps some added AIR.
Watch this space for future updates on this car.

What happens when your taking a break from building arguably the worlds best Mk2 Coup? Well, you go about constructing the worlds best daily of course. Live from New Jersey i give you, Michael C. McCoy and his mk2.

J -So, why a mk2 golf then Mike?

M -I always wanted a golf so when i spotted this 4dr. for sale at a local service station i immediately pulled the trigger. the lines of a golf 2 are classic… they have a look about them that a jetta just doesn’t.

J – Its sitting pretty. What wheels and tyres did you go for?

M – The current wheels are full chrome 16×7 porsche clubsports wrapped in a full set of hankook ventus v8s 165/40-16’s

J – Any notable ups and down to the build?

M – This is just a casual fun build. i don’t take it serious so nothing serious has happened

J – And lastly, what future plans do you have for the mk2?
M - planning on a chrome detailed stg.IV g60 swap, complete bagyard airride setup & different wheels! :-D

G-werks iPhone Background #2

That’s right… Background #2. Not 5 minutes after having decorated your iPhone with Carl Taylor’s Mk3 shot in the back streets of LDN, you’re now gonna have a moral dilemma of which one to choose. Why not switch between the two? In fact, who cares what you do, it’s your phone, we just like to give and I’ll think you’ll agree Charlotte’s perfect back drop material. No need to thank us, it’s what we do…

So, what gets you going? What makes you tick?

I often ask myself why I even bother with this modifying malarkey when I get just as much enjoyment out of talking to people at shows and experiences their own buzz.

Well, I guess there isn’t really an answer for that. Come rain or shine were out there doing what we love. Lowering the car just those last few mm. Polishing up that deep shine or burning the paint off your arches down those country lanes.

I for one cannot wait until the season opener in Telford with Ultimate Dubs and I’m sure you feel the same. See you there.

James Thomas Ford, please come this way…

We were all leaning on the showroom counter last week chatting about ideas and figured it would be good to introduce monthly guest bloggers. After not much consideration at all, we dropped the talented Mr Ford, or ‘oldskool.’ to people on the interwebz, a text message asking him if he’d like to contribute for the month of February. His people talked to our people and now that the paperwork has been signed we can begin.

Part of the F6 militia, James has painted cars on driveways, absolutely nailed the air ride install on his current Mk3, regularly writes for Performance VW Magazine and can take a mighty fine photograph. He doesn’t have any facial hair, though. Which makes us question whether he is actually real or maybe just a fully functional waxwork replica. Either way, we’d like to welcome Babyface to the G-werks blog. Use your 28 days wisely oldskool. Do us proud.
