The brief was simple with this one. Install a 1.9 G-werks G60 engine into a mint Oak Green 1990 Mk2 golf. Here’s how it began. First up, sell the engine from Ben’s Dad’s Golf to make way for his new 20vt set up. The G60 had barely any miles on it whatsoever, so the new buyer was getting a great deal. When he asked us to fit it in for him we were delighted, but due to a tight schedule planned for finishing the ongoing 911 Project (awaiting a base map) we would, as always, need to work fast. The plan was hatched: Three days from start to finish? No problem! Ben took a few pictures of his progress on day one and all we can say is that he’s on schedule at the moment!

The bay is now steam cleaned and polished while the new loom has been installed and all existing loom that’s staying has been re-wrapped. Tight work, huh? More to come on day 2…

This shot of our ‘Murdered Out’ Audi A6 was just leaked to us from Fast Car HQ.

The guys at FC have a new magazine about to drop which is dedicated to the Murdered look and our A6 has bagged itself a 5-page feature. Shot during VW Players show, the shots that we’ve seen look really cool. We can’t wait to see the full magazine which hits shelves on October 21st. Check www.fastcar.co.uk for more info.

After we smashed into Ben’s Bosozoku inspired Mk3 and got the stupid thing converted to VR6 power, we’ve been waiting for tyres. Four 195/40x16s arrived last week ready to be stretched to perfection over the 9×16-inch DZ Exklusiv DZ1 wheels.

The rubber of choice? Well of course with the Japanese theme, it had to be from the Yokohama factory. Back in the 90s, Yokohama was the only rubber to have on your car. In the last decade, companies like Toyo, Avon and Falken have had a lot more prominence in our scene.
Yokohama
So what are the S.drive tyres like? They say, ‘The S.drive (“Sport drive”) radial is Yokohama’s Ultra High Performance Summer tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sporty coupes and performance sedans. The S.drive radial is designed to use Yokohama’s technological advancements to deliver extraordinary grip and handling on both wet and dry roads.’
We say, ‘these are proper good tyres that stretch really nicely and look the absolute nuts!’ Ben’s car now needs a fresh set of coilovers to get it super-low and some wheel spacers employing at the back for that essential flush look. Hopefully we’ll have some Weitec coilovers in the shop sometime this week and then the interior’s gonna be getting hit. Keep an eye out for more updates.
Ps. The Michelin sticker was added by some fool taking these pictures. We’ll name and shame culprit once a thorough investigation’s been carried out!
